Phil and the team put the same amount of effort into all those projects regardless of scale. Great attention to detail, working within tight local guidelines and inspiring solutions. Nice people too.
I'm totally delighted with Philip's design of our loft conversion. His creativity has considered all the functional demands of our space and given us a stylish area that it is a pleasure to live in. I would definitely want to work with Philip again if I was doing any more renovation projects.

We met Philip and the Chase Architecture because of their experience building sustainable prefabricated houses. In the end they proved to be just as adept in converting the existing property, which was a rather run down and un-loved ex council bungalow in Balham. We particularly liked the way that we worked together on the designs. The Chase were very good at listening to our requirements and ideas and translating them into a proposal that really optimised the potential of the corner site. The local planners could have been difficult but the arguments put forward, won the day and we got the permission we had hoped for. Extending the original bungalow outwards and adding a whole extra level for bedrooms. We wouldn’t hesitate to work with the Chase Architecture team again if a future project comes up.
In April/May 2012 I was fortunate enough to be introduced to Phil from The Chase Architecture (then etc urban) and within 6 months of our initial meeting they got me permission for a new 4000sq ft eco house, on three floors, in a conservation area in North West London (this was no small achievement given several schemes had been thrown out by the local planners prior to hiring etc urban). Phil and his colleagues were tremendous at all stages throughout the process. Professional, knowledgeable, helpful and never too busy not to have time to meet to discuss details and rework things as necessary. They handled the planning application and all associated issues and I can recommend highly etc urban: they delivered for me a stunning solution for a new house and got it through planning, in a conservation area, with minimal changes, in a short time frame. The new house has a footprint of approximately 13.5m x 11.5m; the ground floor comprises an entrance hallway, study, bathroom, utility room, cinema/tv room to the front and spanning the full width to the rear (overlooking the garden) is an open plan kitchen-dining-living room with a double height ceiling in the living area. On the first floor a gallery opens out above the open plan living space and there are three large double bedrooms, each with en suite bathroom and the master bedroom has a dressing room and juliette balcony. The upper floor makes use of the roof space to provides a study area, guest bedroom, bathroom, playroom/5th bedroom and a storeroom. The house was prefabricated in Germany and delivered in Oct 2013; the structure was erected and watertight in five days and completed in early Feb 2014. Sustainability and low environmental impact were key design criteria; the insulation, specification, ventilation, solar system and orientation of the building were carefully considered and have resulted in utility bills which are now 75% lower than for the previous house (and the new house is about 50% bigger!).
