Complete with four suites, impressive outdoor areas, a pool and a spa pool – it would be no surprise if you mistook this holiday home for a luxury hotel resort! The re-modelling of this project was undertaken by architect Izabela Kassar Moretzsohn. The opulent holiday home faces onto a lake, offering impressive views from a multitude of vantage points. The wide porches and expansive wooden balconies create a variety of environments with different atmospheres and functions. The decor is at once rustic and sophisticated, and the overall feeling is one that is inviting and cozy.

Lake view

The incredible view of the lake is obscured, only, by the big and beautiful trees. One shot of this setting is enough to urge you to book a get-away – what an incredible location for a holiday home! Amidst this landscape, one can feel connected to nature, but with all the comforts and conveniences of a luxury resort.  Stone paths weave through the lush green lawn, guiding residents into the comforts of the interior.

Between outside and in

Making ones way past the pool, a blue-green sheath of glass encases the outer layer of the home. A dramatic roof pitches up towards the exterior corner, making the home appear open and welcoming. Behind the tinted glass, there is a terrace that feels both inside and out – it forms an in-between space or threshold between the natural elements and the comfort of the homes interior.

Dining al fresco

These tinted glass sliders can be opened up to integrate this terrace space with the surrounding outdoor area. The extent of the remodeling, saw to completely revamp the old balcony, making use of the large, industrial kitchen space. Shutters were added to filter the direct sunlight and maintain a desired temperature indoors. The very large dining tables implores to entertain large groups and is a striking feature in the space.

A restaurant standard kitchen

This grand open plan living space brings the activity of cooking into the social life of the home. Colour, lighting and pared back decoration creates a rustic feel, though no luxury is spared. Bar seating along a portion of the long brick bench top invites guest to join the chef. Sitting just behind it though, the large dining table awaits a separate more formal sharing of company and food. Have a look here, if you're looking for a little more inspiration for your kitchen.

A media room

In contrast to the large, open social spaces which define the rest of the home, this small lounge gives the occupants the option to retreat when desired. The room has a much lower ceiling and furniture gathers around the television. It's the perfect little hide away to escape a cold night and nestle it to watch a movie or enjoy a book! Terrace living

A casual and inviting outdoor space is the perfect place to end the quick visual tour through this impressive home. One is implored to relax, settling in at the end of a warm summer night.
