Designed for a small family, this 120 square meter apartment is one the best examples of restrained minimalist architecture that you will come across. The entire space relies on a simple yet elegant color and material palette with white terrazzo flooring for the public spaces, bleached oak for the kitchen counter and beige flooring for the bedroom.

The house is designed around a central open plan kitchen which is a part of a larger living room space. The living room is generously planned and is provided with a beautiful panoramic window that allows excellent views as well as pleasant natural light throughout the year.

The corridor

The corridor follows the same design language as other spaces and perhaps is far more restrained in its approach that any other space of the house. What caught our attention the most is how in spite of being an internal space, the natural light from the window reflects from the pristine white walls of the corridor, thus giving it a very classy feel.

The extended kitchen

The kitchen is dominated by shades of white for the cooking as well as storage spaces. The aptly positioned kitchen island provides excellent space utilization and acts a focal point courtesy of its bold wooden finishing. The island further extends into a comfortable dining table adequate to accommodate four dining chairs.

An open plan

The kitchen further extends itself to be a part of the generously planned living room. The dining table with its bold wooden finishing and more so its peppy yellow chairs add a distinctly modern and trendy touch to the otherwise neutral setting. We also loved the sleek track lighting that is positioned directly above the dining space.

Minimalist elegance

Instead of relying on traditional furniture units, the architects have taken a more restrained approach and have creatively utilized the large niche in the wall to accommodate the television set and the sleek bookshelf. Interestingly, the differently colored book covers act as a clever aesthetic element for the entire facade by adding a dash of varied colors.

For the view!

The architects of this house have made the most of the long panoramic window that occupies the entire length of the living area. Not only does the window span the wall, it also extends into the ceiling to add a nice dynamism to the space as well as allow inside an enhanced quality of natural light. We also loved how the sleek brown colored seating ledge is fabricated along the length of the window, a perfect space to comfortably read a book or grab a cup of coffee.

A space to unwind

The bedroom is designed to be as distraction-free as possible keeping in mind the desire of the users. Similar to the living room, the bedroom creatively uses the wall niche to replace a typical furniture element. The bed is fabricated from dark wood and offers its users a comfortable sleeping space as well an element that looks visually excellent, particularly when pitched against neutral white surroundings.
