We’ve said it many times before, but the kitchen is the heart of the home. It’s the place where the family comes together to share a meal, and often where we entertain guests and of course where we prepare our food – which comes with a lot of practical requirements. It’s particularly important to get the kitchen right, and it can seem like a challenged especially if space is limited.

However, it’s entirely possible to create a fabulous kitchen in a mere twelve square metre space, and that’s what we’re bringing you today – six examples of sensational small kitchens that could help to inspire your next renovation. Let’s get started…

1. Don’t cut corners

If the available space for your proposed kitchen has an irregular configuration, embrace it! It’s best to adapt and turn the difficulty into an opportunity; creating a dynamic and original design.

Above we see how the arrangement of furniture, cabinets and appliances has been adapted to the angles and corners of the room to create a one of a kind kitchen. A very bright colour scheme helps to balance the effect illuminating all the corners.

2. U know you want to

Smaller, U-shaped kitchens are very practical when it comes to cooking, as everything is within reach when you need it.  The high contrast colour scheme of the kitchen above makes it super-stylish as well as practical, with spacious work surfaces, elegant cabinets and large shelves for the most frequently used items.

3. Minimalist style, maximum space

Adopting a minimalist style is perfect for decorating small kitchens as it allows you to exploit the areas with clean lines and simple shapes, and of course minimalist design means less clutter and more space available.

4. A small kitchen can leave you feeling blue

Small kitchens can be cosy, and as number four on our list demonstrates smaller size doesn’t prohibit you from creating a stylish, pleasant atmosphere in your kitchen. The white color brings the necessary luminosity to the environment, the blue creates a warm atmosphere and the tiles tie it all together.

5. Apply a little creativity

The edgy kitchen design pictured above is perfect for single person or a young couple. The simple minimalist design has been given a streak of flair and a burst of energy thanks to the placement of a coloured graphic panel that slides away to reveal the appliances that are embedded in the wall.

6. A compact kitchen of just six square meters!

 Amazing, right?

Once again we see that U-shaped design that’s great for smaller spaces, and directly in front of us we have a large window allowing natural light to permeate through and prevent the space from feeling too cramped. Glass doors that separate the kitchen from the rest of the house were a stroke of genius by the architects, as they allow the space to feel more open and light to penetrate through the home.
