Today we’re heading to Portugal’s capital, Lisbon, to tour a luxurious apartment that has been remodelled into a modern living space that retains its classic character.
The interior architect, Tiago Patricio Rodrigues, has achieved a wonderful balance between incorporating contemporary elements into the design, and retaining the apartment’s traditional feel. The apartment itself is incredibly spacious! Let’s see what they’ve done with it…
Immediately upon entering the home, we come to a hallway and the dining table that has been aptly placed at the home’s centre.
This large living space has been designed so as to create fluidity throughout the property; here the space has been divided by a partition wall that creates a hallway distinct from the dining room.
As we turn the corner the whole dining table comes into view, and we get our first real taste of the home’s eloquent electric style.
The classic wooden table and rug blend with modern light fixtures and artistic accessories on the wall, to create an atmosphere that is both old and new; brought together by the uplifting pastel colour of the walls.
As we enter the lovely living room of hardwood floors and beautiful palatial ceilings we can see once again how old meets new to create this delightful living space.
The traditional table and decorative plates contrast the modern, brightly coloured furniture, while the glass balcony doors ensure the room is filled with plenty of natural light.
Here in the bedroom, white replaces the cool pastel tones of the living room and dining room.
The all-white colour scheme is interspersed with dashes of gold, thanks to the luxurious light fixture and artwork that adorns the walls. The modern art pieces provide a contemporary touch to this truly regal room.
As we step through a door in an ultramodern partition wall in the master bedroom we find an en suite bathroom that epitomises the apartment perfectly – a blend of classic and modern with a stylish spherical sink sitting on a classic wooden counter.
In contrast to the rest of the home, the kitchen is comprised of a more consistently contemporary design. Once again pastel tomes fill the room, this time in a very light green colour scheme. Interestingly, our eyes are drawn to the floor thanks to the unusual, colourful floor tiles. The kitchen is complete with ample storage space thanks to the abundance of cabinetry that lines the wall.
